An empty dirt coastal path runs along a grassy cliff above the sea, with a line of wooden fence posts and no people in the frame. Before → after

Most "free" photo removers either want an account first, add a watermark, or shrink your photo. Here you upload a photo, type who should go ("the man in the red jacket on the left"), and see the edited photo in seconds. Sign in with Google and your first edit is free; it takes one tap. Want to try it before that? our AI photo editor has sample photos you can run with no account.

What "free" means here, exactly

  • One edit of your own photo is free, once, after a free Google sign-in.

  • If an edit fails, it isn't counted. Try again with a clearer description or another photo.

  • No watermark, ever, on free or paid edits.

  • After the free edit, 3 HD edits cost $4.99 as a one-off pack. No subscription is needed.

Why it works in a browser

The editing happens on our servers using an AI image model, so your phone or laptop doesn't need to be powerful and there's no app to download. Any modern browser works: Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, or any desktop browser.

How to remove a person online

  1. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP photo (up to 20 MB).

  2. Describe who to remove in plain words. You can name more than one person in a single instruction.

  3. Press Remove. The AI removes them and rebuilds what was behind them: walls, sky, sand, crowds, furniture.

  4. Compare before and after with the slider, then download.

Where it works best, and where it struggles

It's strongest when the person is not touching the main subject and the background is something the AI can reasonably rebuild: a street, a beach, a room, a landscape. It struggles when the person being removed is hugging or overlapping your main subject, when they cover most of the frame, or when fine repeating detail (text on a sign, a patterned shirt) sits right behind them. In those cases, a second, more specific description often helps. For tips on removing someone from a group photo, see our group guide.

Free online tool or phone eraser?

Phone erasers (Magic Eraser, Clean Up, Object Eraser) are quick for small things. They work by painting over an area, which can smear larger people. Describing the person lets the AI treat the whole figure, shadow included, as one thing to remove, which usually gives a cleaner background on bigger removals. It's also the quickest way of getting rid of photobombers.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes, once. Your first edit is free after a free Google sign-in, with no watermark. Later edits are $4.99 for 3.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in your browser on phone or computer.

What if the result isn't right?

A failed edit doesn't use up your free edit. If the edit worked but you want it different, a second, more specific description is a new edit.

Is there a watermark?

No, never.
